your stay

home from home

We want you to feel at home at Aikwood from the minute you pull up the drive and unload your cases! Before you arrive we will help you plan all aspects of your trip and we’re never happier than when we’re putting together bespoke itineraries and events for our guests. During your stay we’re always on hand if you need us and we’re always keen to share ideas, suggestions and inspiration for things to do and places to go.

catering & food delivery

When you’re on holiday, you don’t always want to cook every night and if you’re staying for a special occasion then you need to celebrate with a fabulous meal prepared especially for you. We have some excellent catering partners who use local produce wherever possible and offer a delicious, professional and reliable service. Menus range from pre-prepared meals stocked up in the fridge on your arrival through to grazing platters, BBQs and tasting menus - contact Vicki for further details.

Our nearest town Selkirk has a great array of independent shops including butcher, baker and grocer, as well as a Co-op. Tesco, Sainsbury’s and ASDA will all deliver to Aikwood when you arrive.

dog-friendly

Aikwood is dog friendly with a large private, enclosed garden. There are also several beautiful walks in the area and by the nearby river, which you can explore with your four-legged family members! Many of our local pubs and cafes are dog-friendly too.

Dogs are £25 each with a maximum of three dogs permitted. We also ask that you bring bedding, crates, bowls and towels for your dogs.

Dogs should not be left unattended in Aikwood unless they are in a crate.

We can also, on request, provide safety gates for interior doorways to help you keep your dogs where you want without shutting them in rooms.

our team

Aikwood is now under the ownership of The Honourable Rory David Scott Steel and his wife Vicki, who have refurbished the property, upgrading its facilities into a luxury self-catering holiday home and events venue. It is very much a family business and Vicki handles all day to day guest bookings and event plans. There’s no question or guest request that she’s not been able to help with!

Our housekeeper and gardener Debbie and Wullie play a pivotal role in the running of Aikwood and the continuous improvement of the Tower, garden and guest experiences. You may well meet them during your stay, especially as either Vicki or Debbie welcome all of our guests (unless you would prefer a no contact key-safe entry).

accessibility

Unfortunately Aikwood is not suitable for guests who struggle with stairs as we do not have any bedrooms on the ground floor. All of our bedrooms are accessed via stairs - four in the main Tower via a spiral staircase and one in the Byre extension via some easier wooden stairs.

For guests attending weddings please note there is gravel up the drive, to the back door and into the garden, however cars can pull right up to the back door for an easier way into the Laich Hall.

If you’d like to discuss whether Aikwood is suitable for your access needs, please contact us and we’ll be happy to answer all your questions.

"

The most magical place, the ambience, decor, attention to detail just perfect. Nothing was missing, everything you could possibly want was there. We WILL be back!"
